An Assurance of God’s Presence -
On Friday, April 11, we had just returned from a day
of door to door Evangelism and an evening church service in the village of Antokrom, near
Dadieso. As I entered my room, I began emptying my pockets and immediately
became aware that my Bluetooth was missing. Knowing I cannot use my phone without
it, I searched frantically through all my clothes, car, and backpack. It was
nowhere to be found. I scoured my room and went through every bag. I went out
to my car and looked under the seats and in every pocket and cranny. I was distressed but resigned myself to the fact that
since I am in a very rural area I would not be able to communicate by phone for at least a month. I would also have to spend money I do not have to replace it.
I assumed I lost
it in the village and we could look for it in the morning, retracing our steps.
I was not optimistic that even if we found it that it would work, since we had
torrential rains that very night. Retreating to my bed for the night, knowing it was out of my control, I prayed for the Lord
to please help me.
“And
whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified
in the Son.” – John 14:13
The next morning while in my room, I got on my knees
and prayed to the Lord for Him to reveal the Bluetooth’s location. I believed.
I then got up and moved toward the door of my room
which overlooks the courtyard where we are staying. Just as I Looked out
the screen door of my room, a young boy walked by. He was about 12 years old.
He had a Bluetooth in his ear! Did my eyes deceive me? I thought to myself “Why would a 12 year old
Ghanaian boy have a Bluetooth?” And he had no phone…I immediately went out the door to follow and question him but he went quickly around the corner and disappeared from sight. I told Godwin my traveling companion what had
happened and he said he would ask around. An hour or so later, Godwin came to
my room with a big smile on his face and said he had a surprise for me. I
closed my eyes and he put my once lost Bluetooth in my hand. Not only had the
boy found it, but he then went into town and gave it to a friend. Godwin found
the boy and the boy led him to the one who possessed it.
I realized this was a miracle of answered prayer; as
the Lord had me get up from my prayer and then led me to the door, at the
very moment the boy passed by! He revealed to me where it was! Just as I asked!
“If
you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it
shall be done for you.” – John 15:7
He not only led me to where my Bluetooth was, but He revealed His personal presence and absolute control. He demonstrated His
faithfulness. His living word comes alive intimately when we abide in Him. By this simple miracle of answered prayer, He revealed His sovereignty and He assured me in everything that is happening, from “Step By Step Worldwide” to my
continuing missionary work; from the Orphanage Village to the very first Step By Step child
He leads me to, that He is in control. I am assured! He will do it! Everything is in His capable and loving hands. It is all for His glory, that we might proclaim His love, grace, faithfulness and majesty! He showed me! He showed me that He owns and holds the future. He
showed me that all I need to do is believe. This was more than just finding a
Bluetooth. This is about thankfulness for all He does and who He is. This is about His lovingkindness. This is about a Father intimately loving His child.
This is about believing when we pray and knowing He will answer. This is about
believing God. Just believing God.
