Lessons Learned Along the Journey

The Voltage Converter -

God is continually teaching me on this journey. This past week, while being established here at my new home in Ghana, my Father allowed me to fail to show me He has, and has had, everything under control. You see, I have a voltage converter, which is necessary to convert 110 v to 220-240v. It is a required accessory when using U.S. based electronics and appliances in foreign countries. Mine was a cheap department store model. And it was all I had to keep me connected to the world. I depended on it. I was so careful to use the converter when charging, so my phone and laptop would not be ruined by the high voltage.

Well, a few nights ago as I was composing an email message on my laptop, there was a loud "pop" and immediately smoke from the now fried voltage converter filled the room!!! My laptop, which had been charging at the time subsequently died, and my phone which was next to be charged also died. The converter had melted down...burned up...so I was dead in the water, so to speak. I depended on that unit!

Well, after doing some research, I found out that my phone and my laptop were ALREADY COMPATIBLE for all 110-240V situations!!! I didn’t even need the converter!

I had trusted in a cut-rate voltage converter when I should have been trusting in my Papa. He is the one who sent me here…the One who said to me in the year 2007, “You are home now.”

God had directed me to the necessary equipment ...long ago...equipping and preparing me for Ghana!!! What would make me think He wouldn’t prepare the way if He indeed called me here?

God’s lesson to me here is that my eyes need to be open to see He has gone before me and has indeed prepared the way. And not only that, but that I would have unyielding faith, see His unfolding plan, His uninterrupted provision, and His unfailing love for me! 1 Corinthians 2:9, Isaiah 64:4

In Matthew, chapter 14:28-29, as Jesus was walking upon the water toward His disciples' boat, Peter said, “Lord if it is You, command me to come to you on the water.” Jesus replied, “Come”. And when Peter stepped out of the boat he walked to Jesus on the water. Nothing is impossible with God! Faith turns man’s impossible into trusting God for His very word, and believing that, "...with God all things are possible." Matthew 19:26
It is about seeing with eyes of faith, hearing His voice, and knowing His heart for you that allows us to trust Him. He is faithful. 1Thessalonians 5:24 says, “He who calls you is faithful, who also will do it.”

Signs of His presence in each step we take give me confidence that God is most assuredly with us. He is upon the water even now, saying “Come”. This project, the Orphanage village, Missionary campus, School, etc. which He has called us to do, will come to pass just as He said!!! He has gone before us. He has let us see that plainly. We have heard His voice. We know His heart...there is nothing to fear or doubt. Hallelujah!!!

Love you my brothers and sisters in Christ!!!

Papa John :)
